Black Friday starts on 11 November now

TikTok Shop’s US Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale runs from 11 to 30 November. Twenty days needs a run of reasons to come back, not one big post.

TL;DR

One-day sales say, “Be here on Friday.” Three-week sales say, “Come back, there’s more.”

TikTok Shop’s US Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaign runs from 11 to 30 November, more than two weeks before Black Friday itself on 27 November.

Before you post, ask yourself: “What is my reason for someone to come back next week?”

Scroll through brand accounts in early November and most of them are still saving their best post for one Friday. The shops that sell well on TikTok stopped working that way some time ago, and now the platform has put it on the calendar.

What TikTok announced

TikTok Shop says Black Friday and Cyber Monday “return to TikTok Shop from November 11 to November 30.” That is twenty days, ending on Cyber Monday, with Black Friday itself landing on 27 November, more than two weeks in. The dates are for the US. TikTok’s post doesn’t give UK dates, so UK sellers should check their own Seller Center before booking anything.

The lead-up is already visible. By TikTok’s count, #holidayshopping content rose 263% in September compared with August, and nearly a third of US TikTok users expect to buy a gift this Black Friday. Shoppers will see a 3-Day Delivery badge on eligible products, and eligible purchases can now be returned at about 10,000 Happy Returns locations in the US with no box or label.

Twenty days needs more than one post

When a sale lasts a day, the job is to be loud once. When it lasts three weeks, the job is to give people a reason to come back. The same “30% off everything” post looks identical on day three and day fifteen, and people scroll past what they have already seen.

So November works better as a handful of moments. There is an early drop on the 11th for the people who plan, a bundle or restock in the middle, a LIVE where someone actually shows the product working, and a last-chance post before Cyber Monday. Each one gives the account something new to say. Delivery promises do more work late in the month, when “arrives in three days” starts to matter more than the discount.

The ads still need time to settle

The long window helps anyone running paid alongside it. Meta’s peak season guide, which we covered in Launching an ad? 50 conversions a week please, argues for fewer ad sets, a clear brief and the nerve to leave campaigns alone while they learn. Twenty days of sale is enough time for that, provided the campaigns are live before the 11th rather than switched on the night before Black Friday.

Black Friday hasn’t gone anywhere. It has just become the middle of the sale rather than the start.
